PHS boats tack to the windward mark

Waglan 11-13

Windfinder promised 21 knots at the 1110 start on Sunday, the 8th of March, and that’s what the five IRC boats got as they powered across the start and headed for a windward mark off Stanley Bay. Five PHS boats followed as they, too, set off on Course 20 (but a shorter version).

DBX2 trails Skywalker off the start

With reefed mainsails and gusts of 23 knots, the IRC fleet made short work of the beat to Chesterman Gate and on to Castle Rock. After slipping through the Beaufort Channel, the faster boats sped off to TCS2, back around Waglan Island, Sung Kong, Castle Rock, Chesterman again and a reach to the finish off Round Island – 21 nautical miles in total. The cruisers, after Castle Rock, left Beaufort Island to starboard, Fury Rocks to port, Castle, Chesterman with all but one finishing before the IRC boats!

  Dignified finish for Arcturus+

Great conditions, great results. Redeye excelled in IRC 1, Intrigue topped IRC 2. In PHS A, Skywalker beat DBX2 and, in the lively PHS B division, the hard-working crew on Rising Sun notched up a victory with Generations in 2nd.

The final of the Waglan Series 2026 will be held on Sunday, the 29th of March 2026.
